Purpose: A network of academics and academic developers interested in sharing knowledge, resources and strategies for the development of academics as teachers in higher education as well as for the continuing professional learning of academic developers who work in the field of academic staff development.

FOUNDATION
Purpose: A network of academics and academic developers from Southern African Higher Education Institutions who share teaching and learning experiences and knowledge. It provides a platform where academics working in the field of foundation provisioning/extended programmes can share scholarship and innovative teaching and learning practices.

TUTOR/MENTOR/SI
Purpose: To focus on peer collaborative initiatives in Southern African Higher Education institutions. These include tutor/mentor/Supplemental Instruction Leader training and development as well as professional development initiatives for staff working with tutors/mentors/SI Leaders. The aim is to promote collegiality, resource development and research with relation to peer support programmes.

SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL RESOURCE CENTRE FOR THE FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE AND STUDENTS IN TRANSITION (SANRC)
Purpose: To improve student success in South Africa by developing and disseminating research in the field of student transitions, with a special focus on the transition from school to University.

Purpose: To respond to learning needs in Higher Education Institutions by providing academic and cognitive support through connectivity and dialogue. Writing Centres equally focus on enabling academic literacies and cultivating cultures of scholarship, community and transformation.

TECHNOLOGY ENHANCED LEARNING
Purpose: To actively engage with the challenges of introducing effective ways of engaging with technology for learning in a collaborative space. It promotes a personal learning network (PLN) for the advancement and adoption of technology enhanced teaching and learning practices whilst enabling academic development in Higher Education.

SOUTHERN AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES LEARNING AND TEACHING FORUM (SAULT)
Purpose: To build a regional network in Southern Africa that will support professional development activities for the existing faculty in the target countries. Academics in developed countries working within educational/faculty development units have experience and resources which can be used in partnership with academics and institutions in the target countries to support development in teaching and learning in higher education in the Southern African region. Academics and Academic Developers from Southern African countries are encouraged and invited to attend.

REFLEXIVE PRACTITIONER
Purpose: To enhance and study reflexive pedagogic, research and supervision practices and to develop collaborative research and supervision capacity through self-study. It promotes practitioner (action) research; scholarship of teaching, learning and postgraduate supervision and selfregulated professional learning.
